Important note: We recommend that you don't rely on your sat-nav for the final phase of the journey as it may result in you needing to make a sharp turn, which is difficult for larger vehicles. On your first visit we suggest it is better to approach Murhill from the Winsley hill end of Murhill to avoid this (see the instructions below).

From Bradford-on-Avon

From Bradford on Avon (Information Centre): cross over the Town Bridge to the north (direction Bath).

Take first left at mini roundabout A363 towards Bath and continue right up Masons Lane to roundabout at Christchurch, bear left into Bath Road and at next roundabout turn left into Winsley Road (B3108).

After 1.2 miles at roundabout take second exit and continue for 1.4 miles down Winsley Hill past Avon Park on your left.

As the speed limit changes from 50 to 40, before houses on the left, turn sharp left into Murhill (single track road with passing places).

From Salisbury

From Salisbury: take A36 north via Warminster bypass until about 4.5 miles before Bath, at traffic lights, turn right onto B3108 towards Limpley Stoke.

After 0.5 of a mile the B3108 turns to the left under a rail bridge.

Ignore the turning to Limpley Stoke and continue for another 0.5 of a mile along the B3018 over the river and canal, up Winsley Hill until just after the last house on the right, before the speed limit changes from 40 to 50, turn sharp right into Murhill.

From Bath

From Bath (Station): head south east along A36 towards Warminster.

After about 4.5 miles at traffic lights turn left onto B3108 towards Limpley Stoke.

From M4 Junction 18 (Bath)

From M4 Junction 18 (Bath): towards Bath along A46.

After about 5 miles the A46 becomes a dual carriageway, just before the turning to Bath, keep in the outside lane and continue under the Bath junction along the Bathampton bypass to a roundabout (at the end of the dual carriageway) and turn right along A363 to Bradford on Avon.

On entering the 30 speed limit, after 0.2 of a mile at a roundabout turn right into Winsley Road (B3108).

After 1.2 miles at roundabout take second exit and continue for 1.4 miles down Winsley Hill past Avon Park on your left.

As the speed limit changes from 50 to 40, before houses on the left, turn sharp left into Murhill (single track road with passing places).

From M4 Junction 17 (Chippenham)

From M4 Junction 17 (Chippenham): towards Chippenham take the A350 Chippenham bypass and A4 towards Corsham and Bath.

Just after Pickwick take B3109 to Bradford on Avon.

At traffic lights at Fiveways go straight over and crossroads at Bradford Leigh go straight over.

At first mini roundabout, at entrance to Bradford on Avon, go straight over. At second mini roundabout turn right and at third (Christchurch) turn right into Bath Road and at next roundabout turn left into Winsley Road (B3108).

After 1.2 miles at roundabout take second exit and continue for 1.4 miles down Winsley Hill past Avon Park on your left.

As the speed limit changes from 50 to 40, before houses on the left, turn sharp left into Murhill (single track road with passing places).

Driving directions to Fresh Fields (having found Murhill by the directions above)

Having found Murhill using the directions above, keep left (do not turn off to the right) for 0.5 of a mile.

After the 30 speed limit but before the railings and a post box (in the wall on the left) where the road turns uphill to the left, turn right down hill and keep left for another 0.2 of a mile.

Go carefully over the sleeping policeman (traffic calming bump in the road) and round a bend to the right.

The first house on the left is 45 Murhill but Fresh Fields is straight ahead (marked 53 with an arrow on the wall on the left of the entrance and the house name on the right of the gate).

The drive is quite steep and you are advised to come down the right hand (steep) side of the island and turn to the left so that exit is easier.

The nearest train station with easy access is Bradford on Avon.

There are direct services to Bath and Westbury/Warminster. For up to date train timetables, please visit the Great Western Railway website.

Having arrived in Bradford on Avon, the local taxi firm is:

Bradford on Avon Taxis (BOA) 01225 862277 or 0800 6816630

The D1 (First Buses - Bath to/from Salisbury) bus stops in Winsley village outside Dorothy House Hospice (marked as Wheatsheaf Junction on timetable) which is 5-10 minutes walk away.

Please check the First Group website for the latest timetables.

Between the Limpley Stoke bridge (B3108) and Avoncliff aqueduct there is only one bridge crossing the canal known as Winsley Bridge or "Elbow Cottage" bridge - by a former canal-side inn.

Cross over this bridge and the kissing gate almost immediately to the left of the track. This takes you along a path up hill around a small field to the corner where the path enters a wood.

Continue to climb up through the wood along the path until a set of steps beside a bungalow on the left.

At the top of the steps turn left along Murhill lane until it turns to the right.

Turn sharp left and you are at the entrance to Fresh Fields (53 on the left of the drive and the house name on the right of the gate).
